Hire and Manage your Workforce in South Africa

The South African GDP has risen in the first quarter of 2021

The South African economy is projected to rebound by 3.8% in 2021 and 2.5% in 2022, says the OECD, but the recovery has been slow because of a new wave of the virus that has held back economic activity until now; however, growth will pick up over time as investments increase and consumption improves (due partly to last year’s exceptional savings being spent). South Africa is on the way to recovery, with its economy expected to rebound in 2021 and jobs being created. The World Bank has pointed out that electricity shortages will become binding again soon due to renewed economic activity. Commodity prices remain important for South African exports as well as imports of oil. In 2020, South Africa was ranking #84 in the World Bank’s Ease of Doing Business index (Sources: OECD, World Bank, and SA Government).
