The Dutch National Bank says that the Netherlands economy is expected to bounce back swiftly after COVID-19 crisis. According to the EC, the government policies have helped businesses to stay afloat during the height of the crisis and are set to continue operating in 2021, protecting employment and disposable incomes (OECD). In 2022, labor market adjustments and subdued wage growth are expected to slow the pace of the recovery in domestic demand. Given the strong recovery in the global goods trade, net exports are set to contribute positively to GDP growth over the forecast horizon. Overall, real GDP is expected to grow by 3.0%. in 2022, and the level of economic activity is projected to increase to just above 2019 levels. The Netherlands were ranking #42 in the World Bank’s 2020 Ease of Doing Business index (Sources: ING, DNB, European Commission and OECD).
