Ghana: Data suggest that the economy is on a strong rebound
The World Bank says that Ghana had a modest growth of 1.1% in 2020. Ghana’s economy showed early signs of recovery in the second half of 2020 as business sentiments improved with the ending of lockdowns. Year-on-year performance in the agriculture, manufacturing and tradable services sectors saw strong recoveries in the third quarter of 2020. Based on Crédit Agricole Group analysis, the attractive business environment is favorable to FDIs and Ghana benefits from international financial support. Access to the Ghanaian market is based on a partnership approach with Ghanaian businesses. Ghana is a “niche” market open to SMEs. There are numerous opportunities but they require active supervision. Ghana was ranking #118 in the World Bank’s 2020 Ease of Doing Business index (Sources: Fitch Solutions, World Bank, Crédit Agricole Group).
